About DanceBoogaloo:

What does'Boogaloo' mean?

Boogaloo (shing-a-ling, popcorn music) is a genre of Latin music and dancethat was very popular in the United States in the late 60s. Boogaloo originated in NYC among teenage Cubans and Puerto Ricans. The style was a fusion of popular African, American R&B, rock and rolland soul with mambo and son montuno.

DanceBoogaloo is a Dance Company with the aim of teaching today's most popular dances as easy as possible to enhance people's social life.

About me:

To introduce myself, my name is Knut 'Taenzer' (= 'dancer' - for sure not a joke!) - I am the founder of DanceBoogaloo.

I have been teaching dance for 20 years and have extensive training in coaching and motivating people. I teach all levels, and especially love to introduce beginners to the joy of partner dancing.

With great patience and encouragement - and a solid sense of humor! - I teach not only steps and style, but straightforward 'how to' of 'lead and follow', the essential communication between partners on the dance floor. Iam also particularly skilled in working with couples who I have taught in different countries throughout the years to move gracefully together for their weddings and special occasions.

My personal taste and interest include Latin & Swing based dances, especially Argentine Tango, Bolero, Mambo, Hustle, East & West Coast Swing.

I'm associated with the IDTA / England for the English (International) Styles and DVIDA / USA for the American Styles of Dancing.
